ABOUT US

History:

First twelve years we were in the Dhaka city in congested rented houses but in 2008 we have moved to Savar, outskirt of the city with a more suitable environment and facilities for residential training program.

BICT was founded and established under the leadership of Michael Adhikari in 1997, to train potential high school graduate Christian men and women called of God to effectively serve the churches in Bangladesh and the rest of the world. Why another small bible school while there are quite few small and big ones in operation? BICT is not initiated by any mission or organization. At the end of 23 years ministry with New Life Centre a Swedish Baptist mission ministry in Bangladesh the Lord specifically lead Michael and his wife Beauty to run this training program with a very specific vision of discipleship. Starting of BICT was a step of obedience to the Lord and faith in him. Michael Adhikari insisted on a distinctive ethos of training within a community in which staff and students would live together. So it will not only be classroom lecture based intellectual learning but also to gain personal experiences through interpersonal interactions in the community, where the character and attitude of servant leadership is grown. It is a model very similar to what Jesus used in training the Twelve. Michael inherited this ethos and model of training from his training at Discipleship Training Centre, Singapore.

In last 19 years we have been able to train 10/12 students in average per year. We have the maximum capacity of twenty students in residence, which is consistent with the vision and ethos of our program.

This ethos (emphasis on discipleship, small cross-cultural residential community living and self supporting church and mission orientation) has been unchanged for 19 years and remains BICT’s distinctive contribution to the training of Christian leaders.
